PinkBat & BlueBat, my matching combat planes.
These are my matching Funbats, christened PinkBat and BlueBat. Thanks to Bloody Mick for the plans. BlueBat was completed first. You can watch its maiden flight, here. Want to see how I built them? You’ll find my Funbat build log … Continue reading

The Funbat Flies
My first Funbat has successfully made its maiden flights! The ESC was awkwardly taped to the side of the fuse with the intention of remounting it more permanently, once I got the CG dialed in.

Twin Funbat Build
I am building recently finished a matched pair of combat planes, based on the Funbat plans from Bloody Mick’s. I made a silly mistake with the first plane, cutting the wing way too long. I had to excise a section to … Continue reading

ParkZone UM Mosquito
This is my Parkzone UM Mosquito. I’ve actually had this plane for quite some time, but it’s been a real hanger queen; I could just never get it to fly right. The problem turned out to be tail heaviness. Rather … Continue reading

JAS-39 Gripon EDF (RETIRED)
This is my JAS-39 Gripon. It’s my first EDF (Electric Ducted Fan). I’ve had a series of problems with this bird, mainly having to do with its CG. Out of the box, the plane is way nose heavy. There is … Continue reading

UMX Gee Bee R2
This is my E-flite UMX Gee Bee R2. It’s a fun little plane which I’m still trying to get a handle on. Landings are especially difficult. I’ve also run into the Gee Bee’s not uncommon Overpower Cut-off problem (OPC). With … Continue reading

Bf 109 Funfighter – overheating problems
I LOVE my new BF 109 Funfighter, especially on a 4-cell battery. But … the motor and ESC are getting way too hot to suit me. I swapped out the stock 20A ESC for an E-flite 30A ESC, but it … Continue reading

Sporty Little Plane – Build Thread
Yet another build, this one a little low-wing sports plane with a 25″ wingspan, made from blue Dow fanfold foam. You’ll find the plane’s official page, here. My first successful scratch build was another Tiger Moth. That was followed by … Continue reading

Blu-Baby Build
My niece has expressed interest in building an R/C airplane, and we’ve chosen the Blu-Baby as her first build. Update: On our first test flight, the main wing showed an alarming tendancy to bend upwards under load, so the first … Continue reading

HobbyKing Messerschmitt Bf 109 Funfighter
This is my HobbyKing Messerschmitt Bf 109 Funfighter. It’s got a tiny little 658mm (26″) wingspan but it goes like lightning on a 4-cell 850mAh LiPo. It is bone stock, at the moment, but I think I need to swap … Continue reading
