Lite Night Strkyer Build – Part 2

I’ve got the new Stryker 95% together. All the lights are wired up through the Turnigy switch, so I can turn them on and off with the GEAR switch on my radio. You can watch a test of my light system, here. Since this video, I’ve added two small strips of white lights at the top of each vertical stabilizer.

I’ve got a lot of wires in there – five strings of LEDs all coming together to be connected to the switch (on the positive side) and the battery (on the negative side.) I’ve split the battery cables between the battery and the ESC, creating another run to power the lights.

I've cleaned it up just a bit since this.

Balance is dead on. All-up weight (AUW) is currently 12.4 oz with everything mounted and wired up. I’d like to trim another half ounce, but I’m not sure where to find it. Maybe I’ll cut the bottoms off of those hideous fins, or trim the outside inch or so off the wings. I could also knock it back to a smaller battery,; I have some 450mAhs around.

The forward cockpit and battery hatch are cut from a piece of plastic packaging, taped down with black packing tape.  The plastic is folded forward of the battery, forming a hatch, held down with packing tape. The back cover (not shown here) is similarly constructed from a small piece of 2-liter bottle and some black tape.

The motor mount is a square of plywood left over from another plane, attached with Gorilla Glue.motor mount

I hate those colored stripes on the vertical stabs more every time I look at them. They’re definitely coming off.
