I am trying to convert a 40 size nitro air plane to electric can you suggest how to calculate the size of propeller I need. Hobby town says to use a gas prop.
That’s a big one. The size of the prop really depends on the rest of the equipment. What motor will you be using? What battery?
You’d probably want to go with something like this setup:

I’ve never done that kind of conversion, personally. I’d recommend that you post this question at WattFlyer – http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/ – where you’ll find someone with the relevant, real-world experience.
Best of luck!
