Zombee – Night Flyer Mod

Zombee hasn’t been getting much air time lately, so I decided to turn it into a night flier. I added a few strips of green and white LEDs, which plug into the balance port on the battery. (Early tests showed … Continue reading

Well, that was silly. Re-doing my movable pilot.

I discovered a few cracks starting in my old Tiger Moth and, as long as I had the wing off for repairs, I decided to take the opportunity to tweak my recent movable pilot mod. I realized after my first … Continue reading

Pilot mod – letting Hippy Horse look around

[I’ve subsequently modded this mod. Read more here.] This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time – give one of my pilots some mobility, so they can turn their head to see where they’re going.  I picked … Continue reading

Light Stryker’s lights annotated

Just a couple of photos to show off how well the LEDs light up the Stryker’s wing and fuse. I’ve mounted LED strips with the LED lights facing into the foam, rather than pointing outwards.

Clipped-wing UMX F-27Q

Somehow I broke the tip off of my UMX F-27Q’s port wing and elevon and lost the foam. Unsure how else to handle the problem, I carefully chopped off a matching section of the starboard wing so they’d at least, … Continue reading

Winston flies (a little bit)

It was a short, scary flight but, for the first time, it was something approaching a real flight. I actually have some hope now that I can get this bird in the air.

Yet another attempt at getting the Sopwith Triplane to fly

Following failure after failure, my scratch-built Sopwith Triplane has been gathering dust for quite some time. I’ve decided to give it another go. The plane seems really tail heavy, so I’m drastically shifting the weight. I’ve rebuilt the motor mount … Continue reading

“Bipie” build thread

Based on the “Bipie” plans from RCGroups, this little guy will have an 18″ wingspan and be built from a single sheet of Dollar Tree foam board. I’m hoping to use the guts from an E-flite UMX Gee Bee to … Continue reading
