Porcho and I are building him a new plane: a lightweight Stryker modeled after my own White Lightning (minus the lights.) This post is a chronicle of the build.
AUW – 12.5 ounces. Total cost of materials, about $60.00.
Paint is Americana Neon Sizzling Pink acrylic, Model Masters Classic black, and black Sharpie markers.
Equipment:
- Stryker unpainted fuselage/wing
- Emax Budget 10 Amp ESC
- HURC 2712-12 Outrunner
- Orange Rx receiver
- Emax ES08A 8 gram servos
- GWS EP 8040 propeller
- Finished light Stryker – ready for maiden.
- Finished plane with the hatch open
- The battery sits all the way forward.
- Test fitting the battery hatch.
- Bench testing the electronics.
- Black Sharpie markers provide the stripes.
- The first coat of pink paint goes on.
- Harbor Freight paint gun and acrylic paint from Michael’s
- Trim pieces painted.
- Fin is cut from blue FFF
- The elevons are over-sized (2″). Cut from 3/32″ balsa covered in packing tape.
- Shaving off the fake intakes
- We removed the wing struts using dental floss.
- A naked fuselage in the bag and ready to go.
