I’m building a lightweight Stryker for my son-in-law. It’ll be his first plane; we’ll see how that goes.
This one is along the lines of my other light Strykers – small Blue Wonder motor, 10A ESC, 2″ balsa elevons and lotsa pop bottle plastic.
He’s a hot rod car guy, so I’m trying to give this one a little hot rod flair, with a classic ‘crab claw’ flame job and some scallops on the trailing edge of the fins.
- The vertical fins are cut from 1/4″ blue Dow fan-fold foam
- The flame templates
- The fuselage and underside are painted black
- The first flame traced onto the wing
- One wing flamed out
- Both wings finished
- Scalloped vertical fins
- Motor mount is a square of 5/16″ aircraft plywood.
- The motor mount is attached to the wing/fuse with Gorilla Glue
- Here’s the plane with its guts hanging out, prior to finish.
- The finished plane
