Jesse’s Hot Rod – light Stryker

I built a light Stryker for my son-in-law’s birthday,  as part of my ongoing, nefarious plan to suck more people into R/C flying. I love the light Stryker: it’s medium fast, agile, forgiving and relatively crash-proof.

It’s built on a bare Stryker fuselage with the wing spars removed and bits of foam shaved off here and there.

Elevons are 2″ deep, made from 1/8″ balsa covered in black packing tape.

Vertical fins are cut from 1/4″ Dow blue fan-fold foam.

Battery and electronics compartment covers are made from pop bottle plastic and packing tape.

Setup:

AUW with the 450 battery is about 330 grams (11.5 oz). You’ll find some build info and photos, here.
