“Slowly” – wing & aileron mod
I liked my new Slowly pretty well, but I couldn’t help but wonder how it would fly with a straight (or, at least, straighter) wing. So I built a second wing, using the same dimensions, but without any dihedral whatsoever. … Continue reading
Sanibel Quad Flying
I recently took a (much deserved) vacation to Sanibel Island, on the Florida gulf coast, and I took along my Blade 350 QX Quad and GoPro to record the occasion. That’s me on the beach, taking a #droneselfie. Scroll down … Continue reading
Firsts
It’s occurred to me that nearly every RC aircraft I’ve bought or built has represented some kind of first. Maybe it’s indicative of my low threshold for boredom, but it seems like every plane is different from the plane before … Continue reading

Time for a new cutting mat
After over three years of nearly continual use and abuse, my cutting mat is grimy, bumpy and fugly. I decided it was time for a new, clean mat, and ordered one of these 24″x36″ Alvin cutting mats from Amazon. It’s hard … Continue reading

ESC Fire!
There’s a first time for everything and today that thing was my ESC spontaneously breaking into flames. I took my GWS Tiger Moth, Ella, out for some flying today for the first time in a couple of months. I mounted … Continue reading

Hot Wire Cutter
I’ve wanted to build a hot wire cutter for quite a while but have been too nervous about the electric part of it. Well, I’m finally biting the bullet. I’m starting with this – – a vintage Louis Marx Model … Continue reading

Scotch Heavy-Duty Fasteners
Scotch Heavy-Duty Fastener is the only Velcro-type fastener I use on my planes. It’s very strong; I’ve never lost a camera or battery in flight and, in fact, they stayed attached thru some pretty surprising crashes.
