The plane balanced way, way too tail-heavy. After much gnashing of teeth, I pulled it apart again and began re-mounting components. The servos came forward into the ESC bay, and the ESC has moved forward in front of the firewall.

I’ve replaced the original motor with a new, heavier motor, as well.
